Choose by the memory control you actually need
Nomi and Kindroid both expose useful controls, but not every layer is visible or editable. Pick the operation you need before comparing marketing words such as “infinite.” The following matrix uses documented capabilities, not quality scores.

Nomi memory: edit the map without rewriting its sources
Nomi's Mind Map is an editable overview, not the complete memory store. The Mind Map 2.0 explanation distinguishes it from detailed memories and the Identity Core, which users cannot directly view. Shared Notes provide another place to supply background. Do not confuse any of these surfaces with full access to the model's internal state.
For a wrong map entry, edit the mistaken part and lock the entry if it should stop changing automatically. Nomi's correction documentation explicitly says that edits do not change underlying memories: the map can read those memories but cannot write corrections back into them. Review an entry's memory citation too; a citation to contradictory source context may need removal rather than automatic preservation.
This makes a practical correction possible without proving total erasure. Ask a later neutral question and inspect whether the answer still repeats the old detail. The October 2025 Mind Map article estimates roughly 500-plus messages for an initial map; it is not a deadline, a minimum you should rush to reach, or a reason to pay for hundreds of unnecessary messages. A missing map is missing evidence, not proof that Nomi has no memory.
Kindroid memory: inspect retrieval, not just an icon
Kindroid now documents a direct way to inspect retrieved material: tap a reply and choose Long term memory to see its memory and Journal tabs. You can deprioritize an unhelpful recalled memory. Its October 6 memory guide also separates forming new memories from recalling existing ones; disabling recall does not disable journal recall, and Learned Context has its own switch. These are different operations, not one universal forget button.
Persistent fields, Cascaded Memory and retrievable memories work together. Learned Context is viewable and editable, with areas of 800, 1,200 and 800 characters; older items can be displaced when those fields fill. Put a lasting detail into Key Memories or an appropriate journal rather than assuming an automatic summary keeps it forever.
Journal entries use up to eight case-insensitive keyphrases and 20–500 characters of text. The documented retrieval limit is three individual plus three global entries per reply on Standard and the preview, five plus five on Ultra, and nine plus nine on MAX. Matching only occurs against user messages, and generic triggers can crowd out relevant entries. More stored material therefore does not automatically mean better retrieval.
The current preview uses Standard-level memory, including Cascaded Memory and Learned Context, while messages remain. The old statement that all free users lack Cascaded Memory is no longer accurate. Neither the preview nor paid controls makes every hidden memory directly editable or guarantees correct answers.
Use the Memory-Observability Protocol on a bounded sample
Compare Nomi and Kindroid using one harmless fictional fact, a correction, a delayed callback and a conflict. This is a reader worksheet, not results from our accounts. Record literal replies and visible controls separately so you do not count a saved note as a successful recall.

Keep result cells empty until you actually run the prompts. If an answer fails, inspect the saved instruction, conflicting memories and retrieval evidence before buying a larger tier. Test the same short scenario again; record partial answers and failures as well as successes.
Stay within the account's available allowance. A one-time 50-message preview cannot support an unlimited two-week trial, and a three-day card trial does not become free for 14 days because a worksheet says so. If the necessary control is not yet visible, record “not observed” and decide whether the remaining uncertainty is acceptable. Do not feed either service medical, financial or identifying details to make the test feel realistic.
Photos, generated clips and live calls are different jobs
Nomi does generate video; it is not a text-and-memory-only alternative. Its credit table lists one credit for a selfie, artwork or image edit, six for an SD video and ten for an HD video. Purchased credits require an active subscription and do not expire; for tools with replenishing daily allowances, they are used after that allowance. Those are Nomi units, not dollars or Kindroid credits.
Nomi's voice documentation includes real-time voice calls, voice messages and custom voices. Its own and custom voices are included with a subscription. An optional ElevenLabs integration requires a separate ElevenLabs subscription; it is not mandatory for all advanced voice use. Nomi's selfie policy prohibits nude selfies. Do not stretch that photo rule into an unverified claim about every possible video setting.
Kindroid separately offers generated video selfies and live calls. Camera input lets the AI see you; Live Avatar is moving AI output and is off by default. Audio uses credits, and live-avatar video adds a further meter. On mobile, camera video needs the app in the foreground. Call memory also differs from text: long-term retrieval is paused during calls, while calls can still form memories; Shared chat history controls recent continuity. Test the specific format you will use rather than assuming a feature called video has the same purpose on both products.
Free access, renewals and the complete bill
Nomi's free-plan statement offers ongoing daily messaging. Kindroid's current subscription guide offers a one-time preview: 50 messages, or 15 in some regions, five selfies in total and 5,000 audio credits. When it runs out, the account becomes read-only unless a trial or subscription is active. A payment-method-backed three-day trial auto-converts unless canceled and permanently ends the preview.
Use the price actually offered to your country and purchase channel. Kindroid's current guide directs readers to checkout rather than supplying a universal $13.99 quote. We did not verify a current, universally available Nomi checkout price either; historical store products and affiliate comparison tables cannot settle that bill.
For Kindroid, total subscription commitments can include Standard plus Ultra, and MAX requires both lower subscriptions. They are separate recurring items and need separate cancellation. For Nomi, follow the original purchase channel: web Profile → Subscription → Manage Subscription, or the store that billed you. Canceling keeps benefits through the paid period; deleting the app is not cancellation.
Record the base charge, full term, next renewal, optional subscriptions, media purchases and any external voice bill. A finite allowance or unverified pack price cannot be converted into a representative monthly dollar total. Staying with a plan that already fits your use is a valid outcome.
When AISoul fits—and when to keep Nomi or Kindroid
AISoul is a narrower option for an adult who wants one active fictional companion with conversation, photos and ready short clips in the same thread. It uses eligible assets from a finite library, returning an approximate match or fallback; repeats are possible. It is not fresh scene generation, a granular memory editor or live calling.

FAQ: Nomi vs Kindroid
Which has better long-term memory?
Neither documentation set proves universal superiority. Nomi exposes a high-level editable, lockable Mind Map; Kindroid exposes persistent fields, Learned Context, journals and per-reply retrieval inspection. Compare the correction you need using the bounded protocol and current plan. Capacity and saved notes alone are not accuracy measurements.
Does Nomi need 500 messages before it remembers anything?
No. The older Mind Map article estimates roughly 500-plus messages for an initial overview, not the start of all memory. Other memory mechanisms exist alongside it. A map edit or lock also does not rewrite underlying memories, according to Nomi's correction guide.
Is Kindroid still unlimited for free?
No ongoing unlimited Lite tier is described in the current October 6 guide. New accounts receive a finite preview with Standard-level memory, then become read-only without active trial/subscription access. Nomi separately documents 50 free messages per day. Neither allowance is a paid-feature guarantee.
Which should I choose for calls rather than clips?
Nomi documents real-time voice calls; Kindroid documents voice, camera input and subscriber Live Avatar. Choose by whether audio alone is sufficient or moving AI output is essential, then check the applicable credit meter. Generated clips on either product are not live calls; we did not measure call quality.
Can I move the whole relationship between Nomi and Kindroid?
We did not verify automatic cross-product import of complete history, hidden memories or relationship state. Preserve and manually recreate only your own permitted notes, test the new companion, and manage billing separately. A source's export option does not establish that the other product imports it.
