Choose the capability you cannot replace
Candy AI and Replika can both be relevant to an adult, but the deciding requirement should be something observable: a generated clip, locked-screen audio, a relationship setting or a saved fact. A media subscription is not automatically a replacement for a companion's control layer.

Calls, camera recognition and generated clips are different
Candy's public Emma Clarkson card contains a phone-call confirmation showing 3 tokens per minute, labelled beta, plus a 5-second Scene Video quote of 12 tokens. Those are quotations from that interface, not a completed call or a guarantee that every character and account uses the same tariff. Replika's program guide puts background calls in Pro. Platinum adds real-time camera recognition and up to 10 realistic selfie videos, but that page does not specify the videos' reset period. Camera recognition means the AI can interpret camera input; a generated selfie video is an output file. Neither should be presented as an unlimited live video of the companion. Replika program guide.
For a switch, write down what the call must do: continue with the screen locked, use a particular voice, or keep a fact from the text conversation. Check each separately in your current version. If one is mandatory and unconfirmed, keep the old account. No call latency, audio quality or cross-mode recall was measured for this article.
What you can see and correct in memory
Replika documents visible Memory entries plus deeper patterns drawn from conversation history. You can add entries and remove unwanted memories; Ultra separately adds saving messages to memory. That is not a promise that every learned pattern is visible or that deleting one entry erases every influence of old conversations. Memory explanation.
Candy's sources reviewed here do not establish an equivalent editor. This is a documentation gap, not evidence that Candy forgets everything at a fixed message count. A character remaining available is also not proof of accurate long-term recall.
Try a harmless correction in your own accounts: say a fictional reading club meets Thursday, change it to Saturday, then later ask when to arrive. Record the exact reply, whether a visible entry changed and whether the answer needed a hint. Repeat the callback in another available session before deciding. Stop if the required correction cannot be made or the sample allowance runs out. This is a proposed test, not a result we obtained.
Free access and the two parts of Candy's bill
Candy's free help page allows five chat messages total across characters, one custom character and one generated image. It does not describe five messages for each character or a renewing daily allocation. Replika advertises free basic chat, while its program guide describes Free Use as limited and discretionary; do not translate that into a guaranteed numeric allowance for every account. On the public USD page checked October 7, Candy shows a first month of $9.99 followed by $13.99 monthly renewal, a $26.97 quarterly total, and a $47.88 annual total. The advertised $3.99/month annual equivalent is not a monthly instalment. Premium includes 100 tokens per month; media and calling can consume that balance. Hypothetical meter check: at the public card's quoted rates, one 5-second clip plus two minutes of calling would require 12 + (2 × 3) = 18 tokens. This is arithmetic using displayed quotes, not a universal debit or a dollar estimate. Check the quote for the actual action, then budget the base charge and any additional token purchase separately.
Fill a Capability Preservation Map before switching
A Capability Preservation Map should distinguish “documented,” “not yet confirmed” and “not supplied,” rather than declaring all capabilities lost. Consider a hypothetical Replika user whose required features are background audio, an inspectable preference, adult generated clips and no automatic renewal. Replika documents the first two; Candy documents adult generation and a paid phone interface but not the same background behaviour; neither reviewed subscription route supplies a non-renewing replacement for all four requirements. AISoul's Pass can change the billing shape, but cannot replace calls or fresh generation.
Make the switch reversible:
1. Record the existing tier, purchase channel, next renewal date and the two capabilities you cannot lose. Do not share payment credentials.
2. Save only your own non-sensitive preferences and character notes. A note you retype is not an imported memory system.
3. Check the candidate's exact format and correction operation while the old account is still available. Mark unconfirmed requirements unknown, not passed.
4. Cancel only when the mandatory checks pass, using the original billing owner. Candy documents Settings / Unsubscribe; paid access continues to period end, when remaining tokens expire. Replika requires the original purchase channel. Candy terms, sections 9–10, Replika cancellation.
5. Keep the cancellation confirmation and expiry date. Remaining paid access does not, by itself, mean cancellation failed. Account deletion, refunds and stopping renewal are separate actions.
No automatic cross-brand history, avatar, memory or purchase migration was verified. If the replacement cannot meet a mandatory row, staying is a valid outcome.
Where AISoul fits—and where it does not
AISoul is relevant if you prefer returning to a preset adult fictional companion with ready photos and clips, and accept retrieval rather than new generation. It is not a replacement for Replika background calls, visible per-fact editing or Candy's custom media creation.

Does Candy AI replace Replika's background calls?
Not yet established by the evidence reviewed. Candy has a public paid beta phone-call interface, while Replika explicitly documents Pro background calls. Verify your required locked-screen behaviour and continuity on the current Candy account before switching; the existence of a phone feature alone does not prove equivalence. Can I automatically move Replika memories into Candy AI?
No automatic cross-brand import was verified. Preserve your own harmless notes, test the destination's recall and keep the original account until you are satisfied. Does Replika have generated videos?
Its current program guide lists up to 10 realistic selfie videos in Platinum. The guide does not give the reset period, and those clips are different from camera recognition, live calls and unrestricted adult prompt-to-video. Check the selected version and program before buying. Replika programs.
Is Candy AI free for an ongoing relationship?
